Keep me in the loop

The volunteer form for 2026 will be up soon, If you want to know when pop your email below and we will contact you when its ready.

We’re looking for volunteers to help at the Newcastle Beer and Cider Festival. There are many roles we need volunteers for beyond serving at the bars so why not look at the roles below and see if there’s something you’d like to try this festival. If you’re interested in trying a different role for a bit at this year’s festival select it in the ‘I’d like to try’ box and we’ll allocate some shifts to that role. Volunteer roles are:

Membership Team
As a member of CAMRA you know what’s great about membership – this role lets you share that with other people by encouraging them to sign up at the festival. This role can be done either at the Membership Desk (so it’s a good opportunity to take the weight off your feet for a bit) or circulating throughout the festival chatting to people.

Welcome Team
Help visitors to the festival know where to go when they arrive by greeting people and directing them. This role also acts an information point for festival visitors who might need help understanding how the festival works (it can be confusing if you’ve never been before) or the locations of a specific beer / the toilets / food etc.

Admissions
Take and sell tickets and sell glass hire and tokens, this is a fast paced role that involves quick thinking to make sure customers get what they’ve bought quickly and efficiently and that everything is recorded on the digital till.

KeyKeg Bar
To offer as wide a selection of beers as possible we have a small KeyKeg bar offering a selection of beers either not available in cask or where the style lends itself to keg (eg lagers). In this role you’ll operate the lindr dispense machines to serve beer to customers. As we are not using REDs bar on the 2nd floor this year the KeyKeg bar will be located in the main hall. Full training on how to use the lindrs will be provided, but it’s honestly not as difficult as it looks!

Beer Bar
Serve customers at the main festival bar and help them find the beer for them.

Cider Bar
For those passionate about all things apples and pears, serve customers at our cider bar.

All volunteers will receive a festival t-shirt and beer tokens as a thank you for your time. Volunteers working longer hours will also receive a voucher for the festival canteen. A sandwich style lunch will be provided on set up and take down days.

Information about volunteer shirts

Due to financial constraints we have had to look at ways to reduce spending across the festival. As a result, this year, volunteers will only receive one festival shirt and this will be t-shirt style in unisex sizing. The cost of volunteer shirts used to be covered by a sponsor but as prices have risen and businesses have come under financial pressure the sponsorship money available no longer covers the cost of the shirt order. T-shirts are considerably cheaper than polo shirts to order hence this decision.

However, we know that some volunteers have a strong preference for a polo shirt over a t-shirt and so we are giving volunteers the option of upgrading their t-shirt to a polo shirt by paying the extra cost. It will also be possible to order additional shirts at cost price.  This will be done through the festival ticketing website allowing for secure payment by credit or debit card.

All extra shirts / upgrades must be ordered by 23rd March to ensure time to place the order.

Sorry, the deadline for ordering extra shirts has now passed, however you can still sign up to volunteer at the festival.
